Y
ou said yes! It just didn’t include the
ring. I’m talking about being the maid of
honor for the girl in your life who is tying
the knot. So now what? There is so much
information on how to stay organized as the
bride, yet there is a serious lack of info
regarding how to be an organized maid of
honor.
Consider yourself the one the bride is going
to call when the fitting didn’t go as planned,
or the florist used lilies, not roses. Your role
more than any other is truly the support
system. This role doesn’t need to feel like a
drab Monday morning. Here’s how to make
this experience a bonding one, rather than a
nightmare. Let’s assume your bestie is not a
bridezilla of course.
Staying on Track
Keep an organizer handy for dates and
contact info. Jot down those important
dates that will keep not only you but the
bride organized as well. Cake tastings,
fittings, shoe/dress shopping and the
bachelorette party (which you are in charge
of) to name a few. Be sure to have the
names, numbers and emails of the girls the
bride has chosen as her dream team for the
big day. As well as those she would like in
attendance at the bachelorette party. You
will need this list handy leading up to the
wedding. The better prepped you are for
dates the more likely you are to take the
stress off the planning.
Bridal Shower Planning
Just because you have been deemed the
lady in charge does not mean you can’t call
in for some support when planning to
shower the bride with gifts. Decide on a
date to gather everyone together and
divide and conquer that to do list in
preparation for the bridal shower. Decor,
invites, food, games and of course the
location. Check in with the bride to find out
how much she would like to be involved in
the planning as well. Getting the bride’s
feedback will help to plan a day you know
she will love.
