Major Event In My Life

April 19, 2005 was one of the most terrifying days of my life but not only for me but for my family as well. I was eight years old at the time that it all started. The day that everything happened was not a very bright day for there were wet circle drops that sprinkled and fell to the green grass below.

The wet drops that sprinkled the grass would be on and off all through the day. My brother and I where yelling and screaming at each other over a game. I got to that game first and thought I deserved to play on it first for I was the oldest. Running and Running to find my father who was nowhere in sight. Searching the house from top to bottom looking for my daddy.

I had found my mother but she would just take the game away so I ran to find my daddy for I was a daddy’s girl at the time anyway. Running onto the porch I had found my father mowing the lawn with the John Deere. I began to tap my foot just a waiting and waiting for him to be done. Finally he had stopped. I ran out to him slipping and sliding on the wet freshly cut grass. Almost there! I slipped and fell! I started sliding and that’s when I realized my dad was backing up. My dad backed right over me.

I was lying on the ground with the John Deere lawnmower on top of me. There was nothing I could do about it. The lawnmower finally turned off and my dad was pushing the lawnmower off of me. I lay there not knowing what had happen. I wanted to see what had happen. I wanted just to get up and pretend this never happened. The only problem with wanting to get up was that I couldn’t get up. I got one glance at what had happen before my dad pushed me down and told me to stay there.

I saw what had happen! My right leg was shredded into little pieces just hanging there by a little piece of skin, there was bone sticking out everywhere and lots of blood. My left leg was still there but there was two bones sticking out of my knee. I had no knee cap anymore it was sliced off completely. My dad ran to get my mom and to call 911. My dad came back and then he started to talk to me to keep me awake and calm. “Madison I think that you’re going to lose one of your legs,” said my dad. I was shaking and starting to feel very cold.
