For Team USA in the past , only two female riders have been in attendance , putting considerable pressure on each competitor . After the 2021 TdN in Portugal , Maddie and Kylee were more than thrilled to add a third member to their team .
“[ The teams ] will pick rider order based on strengths and weaknesses ,” said Todd . “ They figure out amongst themselves who is going to ride first , second , third , because it matters . If we have a bad ride , and then a good ride , you want your third rider to be a good closer , and to be able to hold under pressure and get that last good ride in .”
HOW DID THE 2022 TDN GO ?
In the World Championship class , it was once again Spain who took the win . Positioned for success with Toni Bou , Jaime Busto , and Adam Raga , they would take only nine points on the day , 22 points ahead of Italy ’ s Matteo Grattarola , Luca Petrella , and Lorenzo Gandola in second . Great Britain ’ s Jack Peace , Billy Green , and Toby Martyn would finish with 52 points and take third .
For Team USA in the International Trophy , it was a sixth-place finish , coming only seven points off the podium with 24 points , 23 of which were scored on their first of two loops . The Czech Republic team , comprised of Martin Kroustek , Martin Matejicek , and David Fabian ,
