Empowerment Through Books

When we attempt to divorce ourselves from our feelings/emotions – we’re divorcing ourselves from the very keys or elements that we need to unlock the mystery of who we are as individuals! No one is like you! No one feels things or interprets things the same way you do. Certainly, we have things in common with others, but your feelings are unique unto you.

Each day we wake up and elect to participate and engage in life, we have a decision to make. This decision is made the second your feet hit the floor when you swing your legs over the side of your bed. You can decide that you will project positivity and compassion to those you encounter or you can choose to view yourself as a victim and project bitterness and resentment.

Engage in discussion with yourself. Yes, I’m advocating talking to yourself! Ha! If you wake up “on the wrong side of the bed”…ask yourself out loud, “Why do I feel this way?” Be completely and totally honest. You’ll be amazed at what you feel comfortable stating out loud to you… once you give yourself permission to reveal all your feelings and all your emotions.

Your feelings and/or emotions are the unique cocktail that God mixed together and poured inside of you to give you flavor and to add spice to the lives of those you love and those you encounter. Never be afraid to show them to the world – YOU ARE WORTH BEING CARED ABOUT!

Over the course of my life, I have looked to books for insight and answers. I've looked to books to escape, to learn, to grow, and to be inspired. Books, the written words and shared stories, have been my best friends and I'd like to introduce you to one of them.

Food and Healing

by Annemarie Colbin, Ph.D

Ten years ago, when I first bought this book, it stood at the forefront of the food revolution, exploring the link between diet and health. In this anniversary edition, Dr. Colbin provides updates on recent dietary systems, including low-fat, food combining, and alternative medicine.

Whether you know that food can heal you by experience or you are curious about how, this book is worth having in your personal library. We will be referring to this book throughout the month of April, as we support those who are participating in the five-day detox.

writing for and being a support to single women with no children. She is

determined to grow her blog and become a rich resource for this highly neglected group. More than anything, she wants SWANKYs (Single Women And No Kids Yea!) to know they serve a purpose.
