Finding your style when you are a mum

Let me guess; you are a new mum or second, third or more time around. Your body shape isn’ t what it use to be, you have less time on your hands, your existing wardrobe doesn’ t fit – neither does your maternity wardrobe … you feel lost, frumpy and feel like you don’ t know who you are anymore? Well I am here to show you that you don’ t have to do a lot to find yourself again!

I am Jordi, the“ daughter” half of the Mother / Daughter Style Duo at VibrantConcepts. Whilst I may not be a mum I have spent nearly the last decade styling women who have been in the exact same spot as you are right now. Women who don’ t know what their style is now they are a mum.
Often being a mum for many women means a drastic change in lifestyle and with this can come a drastic realisation that they don’ t know what their“ style” is anymore. Add in the fact that they can’ t or don’ t want to wear what they wore pre-baby but they also don’ t want to dress“ mumsy”, it’ s no wonder many women end up feeling confused and overwhelmed when having to dress.
Let me tell you, the steps in this article will help you on your way to a confident personal style! With my professional guidance and our proven and practical styling systems you will be a modern, fresh and stylish mum in no time. Now this isn’ t an overnight process and successful personal styling consists of 5 stages; style, colour, body shape, wardrobing and shopping. So let’ s get started …

Focus on what you like and what makes you smile!
So the first step in finding your style is to uncover what you like about YOU and what you want to show to the world?
Think about your personality. Are you outgoing? Go with the flow? Creative? Introvert? Fun? Adventurous? Flamboyant? Reserved and shy? Or maybe a mix of many characteristics and even ones not listed above.
Now have a look at the list below and think of which styling most resonates with you. Chances are you will find some similarities to your personality and the things you like to look at or surround yourself with. Do you like:
• Feminine, pretty things
• Something that is quirky and not mainstream
• Clean cut and simplistic items
• Relaxed garments with a modern twist
• Bright, bold colours and patterns

2Give YOUR personality STYLE Once you have a clear picture of the types of colours, designs, styles and“ things” you are attracted to, start to“ style” your look and wardrobe. 3 Simple steps to Finding your style as a mum

1Focus on what you LIKE and what makes you SMILE! Determining what you like makes it easier to narrow down what you can comfortably and confidently wear. If you like clean cut and simplistic things then chances are you will not feel overly comfortable in a floral, floaty maxi dress. You will probably be more comfortable in a tailored pant and on-trend blazer.
