Firewalk in aid of Churchyard funds

On May 6th 10 volunteers achieved what most people would think would be impossible – walking on hot embers . They were being sponsored in aid of the Churchyard Fund . As well as raising around £ 1500 towards the maintenance and upkeep of the churchyard , they also benefitted from the experience of achieving the ‘ impossible ’. The training , generously donated by Jon and Steve of www . firewalk . co . uk , taught how to focus your mind on your objective and put aside negative or self-doubting thoughts . We are very sorry that it is no longer possible to produce the hard copy of On The Button . This has been a great help to us and to many organisations in Arlesey in being a verhicle of excellent news , reporting and information for the village . We ’ re delighted that the electronic version will continue to be produced and we express our heartfelt thanks to Steve and all who have helped produce and circulate the paper version .

Weddings at St Peter ’ s

If you ’ re planning on getting married you might like to think about being married at St Peter ’ s church . You don ’ t need to be a regular church attender , and even if you don ’ t live in the parish , you may be able to be married in this historic and beautiful church if you have a ‘ qualifying connection ’ ( for example have lived in the parish , have attended the church , or parents / grandparents married in the church ; for full list see ; http :// qrs . onl / dygatu ). The marriage of people who have been divorced is also possible at St Peter ’ s , subject to a few conditions .

The advantages of a Church wedding include , of course , the spiritual atmosphere , the inclusion of prayers and hymns and the relationship you build up with the Vicar during the preparation sessions held during the months beforehand .

The church can easily accommodate 150 people and the building and churchyard provide a unique and beautiful setting for photographs after the ceremony .
