Although ATC is technically in recess until September 20th with no
council or committee meetings during August, our councillors have
remained busy over the summer.
Despite our break, planning applications continue to be lodged
with the same statutory deadlines for responses. Councillors have
been reviewing these applications and preparing responses for
consideration and approval.
Councillors have also been engaged with our ward councillors,
CBC enforcement officers and the Environment Agency, to ensure
that breaches relating to waste disposal on private land near the
railway last year are subject to appropriate action and steps taken
to ensure no repetition.
Councillors will be considering the proposals presented at the
recent consultation regarding the East side of the Masterplan
‘Arlesey Cross’ development. There appear to be significant
deviations from the adopted Masterplan that could be to the
detriment of the future for Arlesey. Councillors have been gathering
facts, liaising with residents and ward councillors in preparing for
full council discussion and an agreed action plan. In addition there
have been meetings with CBC at all levels pursuing a higher level of
influence and understanding.
At the beginning of September, Bedfordshire Police’s Operation
Salcoats came to Arlesey and Stotfold bringing an increased
presence to the local area for a day. The operation resulted
in a number of cautions and one arrest plus enabled valuable
engagement between the Police and local residents.
The Council would like to thank Arlesey Events Group for
organising this year’s Arlesey Summer Fete which was well attended
and a great success! Can’t wait until next year’s fete!
ATC would also like to welcome Daniella Rickman as ATC Admin
Assistant.
Arlesey Summer Fête 2016
Organised by
The Arlesey Summer Fête was held on Saturday 3rd
September on the Recreation ground. An estimated 1000
people attended throughout the course of the afternoon.
Sadly, poor flying conditions prevented the RAF Spitfire
from taking off from RAF Coningsby so there was no flypast.
However, a Steam Engine was kindly provided by John
Saunders and there were many other stalls and attractions
including: Ladder 87 Fire Engine, Dog Show and agility course,
games and demonstrations in the ring, Sumo Suit wrestling,
Jousting and a horticultural show in the Village Hall. The Fête
organisers, ‘Arlesey Community Events group’, would like
to thank all participants and contributors who helped
make the fête a success, and in particular all the brave
residents who attended despite the weather! It was
pleasing to see the event being so well supported. Watch
this space for details of future Arlesey Community Events.
