A day in Arlesey with . . . . . . Louise Callow Louise Callow runs Scamp Theatre with business partner Jennifer Sutherland from a back garden office in Arlesey. Louise, 52, lives with her rescue dog Molly, is a retired Army Major and is currently England Ladies National Fly Fishing Champion. Questions by Jodie Chillery What time does the day start in this house – its busy already and its only 10.00am? We don’t normally start till 10am because a lot of theatres don’t start till then as obviously they are open at night. Teresa Burns our general manager comes in at 10. She helped out stuffing envelopes with us once and has never left! There is no typical day here, you never know what is coming. But because we are a touring theatre, there is an awful lot of accommodation booking and logistics to work out, a lot of the day is spent managing that. So what does Scamp Theatre do? We produce theatre exclusively for young people from 3yrs and up. We’re the umbrella producers that found the productions and then find them a future life. There is no point making theatre that no one will come to see. Its crucial that we are inspiring the next generation – if you see a good piece of theatre when you are 3 years old, you remember it and you sing the songs and we don’t have actors in great big suits, we have anim
