Arlesey World War 1
Commemoration
Arlesey Town Council has adopted the idea
to commemorate the centenary of the start
of the First World War by placing a cross on
the grave of each person named on the war
memorial. For those that do not have a
known grave, a cross will be placed on the
grave of an unnamed burial in the appropriate
cemetery thus adopting it at least for 2014.
We have 14 names for which we have no
information; these are Crawley W, Crawley W
T, Eldred W, Gibb W, Hoskins F, Jackson A,
Jones F B, Kitchener H, Martin A, Page W,
Price G F, Richards T, Sale W and Soley J.
For these names an individual cross will be
placed on Arlesey’s War Memorial so each
person will have been individually remembered in some way.
Each cross will bear the legend “Arlesey Remembers you” and the
