The London Chest Players
After the Second World War the London Chest Players were formed, when
the London Chest Hospital took over some of the emergency hutted wards at
the Three Counties Hospital.
Charles Tolman produced and starred in many of the productions such as
“Winter Revue”, “March Madness’ and “Coronation Revue’ in 1953.
We have programmes from many of the shows including their
pantomimes performed at the hospital. A particular favourite was
Aladdin performed twice and both produced by Mr Tolman. One was
called “Aladdin (with a difference!)” but what the difference was we are
not sure but both were performed in three acts. Below are two images
we think are taken of the same version of Aladdin (the straight panto).
In the scene on the left the baddy is holding what looks like a pint of
beer. The cast photo below, looks to be from the same performance.
