19 Tim: Well said Mike and Dave. To wrap things up, why is it important for IT professionals in particular to become more focused on empowering their teams? Mike: As I mentioned at the beginning, we are being asked to do much more with much less. Our roles within the institution are changing from running and providing a stable infrastructure to growing and transforming the business. These newer responsibilities require my entire team to function at a much higher level— a level they can only obtain if they are empowered. Dave: I echo Mike’s sentiments and will add that our retail environment is drastically changing. Our customers are looking to new and different experiences that only technology and great guest service can deliver. We need to trust and empower our teams to take care of our guests, which is one of our core values at Orvis.
