Behind the Scenes
The Changing
Faces of Missions
Since the 1940s when One
Mission Society ministries ex-
panded from Asia to the front-
lines of ministry in Colombia,
OMS missionaries from our tra-
ditional sending countries have
been strategic in the growth of
the evangelical church through-
out the Latin world, which in-
cludes Mexico, Central and South America, and
the Caribbean.
Today, as people from this region search for a
personal connection to Jesus, they are finding it
in evangelical Protestant churches, and OMS is
witnessing this growth firsthand. Our strong and
growing partnerships with our national churches
and coworkers play a key role in this success.
Jeff Edwards, OMS international regional direc-
tor for Latin America and the Caribbean, says, “To-
day, God is raising up new missionaries from this
region. We have Brazilians serving in Mozambique,
Colombians in England and the U.S., Haitians go-
ing to Sicily, and Cubans preparing to go to Africa.
And this is just the beginning!”
What an exciting time to be involved in mis-
sions! We hope these stories of God at work in
Latin America and the Caribbean will inspire you.
Pray for continued strong partnerships that will
build God’s kingdom.

By God’s grace, One Mission Society unites, inspires, and
equips Christians to make disciples of Jesus Christ, multi-
plying dynamic communities of believers around the world.
One Mission Society is an evangelical, interdenominational
faith mission that makes disciples of Jesus Christ through
intentional evangelism, planting churches, forming strategic
partnerships, and training national leaders in Africa, Asia,
the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
OMS then joins with those churches in global partnerships
to reach the rest of the world.
