seeing the local believers share the Gospel with their neighbors alongside us. This
is my hope for continuing fruitfulness. This initial work will be multiplied as these
Colombian laypeople continue to share the Gospel long after we are gone ... dis-
ciples multiplying other disciples.
Juan Carlos is the pastor of the church
where we worshiped on Sunday. Angie, Juan
Carlos’ wife, kept coming up to me and hug-
ging me and trying to talk to me, but with the
language barrier, it was difficult. I tried com-
municating using an online translator from my
phone, but this also limited our communication.
On Thursday, she approached me, dragging an
interpreter along with her. She explained that
God had used Isaiah 43 to bring her to salvation
and that is why she was so moved by the ser-
mon. Now isn’t God good!? He takes me over
2,000 miles from my home to a place where I
don’t speak the language, and he impressed
upon me to preach from Isaiah 43, a passage I
hadn’t read in over two years, to bring encouragement to Angie (and me) that he is
with us. We serve an awesome God!
