Far From Home

I have to admit that I went to Colombia with
mixed emotions.
I had done a lot of work-related travel in the
three months leading up to the trip and had
been out of the country two of the last three
weeks prior to the trip. So, as excited as I was
about going to Colombia, I was travel weary.
A great big shoutout goes to Pastor Tony
from my church for preparing us in great detail
for what to expect on the trip. I felt prepared
for all of the logistics, but honestly, I was filled
with anxiety about going door-to-door and
sharing the Gospel. This is something I have
never done before and was definitely outside
of my comfort zone.
On Sunday, our group visited one of the churches that
we were going to work with during our time in Colombia,
and I shared the message. I used the text from Isaiah
43:1–13 to show God’s greatness in the midst of our trials.
Since I know almost no Spanish, I needed an interpreter,
which proved to be more challenging than I expected.
During our week of sharing the Gospel with the people
of Colombia, we experienced many emotional moments,
and many people made decisions for Christ. This was
very exciting, but what I found the most encouraging was
