In Memoriam
In 2019, One Mission Society lost several beloved missionaries. We
now honor and remember those OMS missionaries who served with
distinction for 10 years or more or were currently serving at the time of
their passing.
Rick Beard and his wife Barb began serving with One
Mission Society in Taiwan in 2016. They both served
in English ministry, leading Bible studies, and making
disciples. Rick also witnessed to many local believers
as the pastor of the English-speaking congregation
with the Taiwan Holiness Church. Rick had a great ability
to teach, inspire, and equip Taiwanese believers to
become disciple-makers in Taiwan and beyond.
Russell faithfully served OMS for more than 10 years
as the Every Community for Christ national director
for East Asia. ECC asked Russell to assess what was
working and how to introduce multiplying disciples,
churches, and leaders in this challenging region. He
rose to the challenge, and like with everything he
designed and implemented, his work and ministry was
a reflection of his education and career in engineering.

Dr. William (Bill) Douce and his wife Ilene immersed
themselves in the jungles and mountains of
Saraguro, Ecuador. They set up their first medical clinic
in 1957. The Douces then dedicated the next three
decades to serving the physical and spiritual needs of
the people native to this previously unreached region.
Dr. Douce also led efforts to organize medical caravans
into more remote towns in the surrounding jungle and
helped set up a Bible institute in the area.
