His father kicked Toussaint out of the house and told him to stay at the church. A year later, his father got sick. Then, two years later, before his father’s death, he said, “I now understand why God wanted me to know him. I have repaired everything with my father. I know he will die soon, but I am not a spiritual orphan. I have God as my eternal father.” Carine also broke off the relationship with Toussaint, but he said, “I will never turn back.” At this point, Toussaint began reading a lot and working hard to grow in his faith. About three years later, he graduated from the Village Church Planting program and became a trainer and my VCP strategy administrator. Today, he is not only the VCP coordinator in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, but he also serves as an eloquent preacher and has an unprecedented ministry in the prisons. Toussaint said, “Before my salvation, my only goal was to make money from being a lawyer. Fortunately for me, Jesus entered my life, and now, I have chosen to serve God and not money. I want to help others grow. I use my profession (understanding the Congolese written law as well as divine law) as I minister in the prisons. I thank God for the VCP program. It helped me grow and become fruitful for the kingdom, reaching lost people with the Gospel and training others to plant churches.” photo, pg 18: Toussaint travels by motorcycle to train disciples in Village Church Planting. pg 19, top: Toussaint trains leaders in the VCP program. bottom: VCP training of trainers workshop participants 19
