Drunk
Lawyer
Finds
Jesus

I remember the first time Toussaint came to our church in
2015 with Carine, his girlfriend; he was drunk. I sent them
home. The next day, they came to the prayer meeting. After
the service, I took time to talk to him.
He was open to the Gospel but smelled
of alcohol. He said, “Pastor, I need
prayer for my headaches.”
I explained what he needed to do
for better overall health, both physically
and spiritually.
Two days later, Toussaint arrived to
our meeting. I presented the Gospel to
him. He was so excited, he declared, “I
am happy for this moment, but I need
another divine appointment.”
I gave him some verses to read. He
said, “Trust me, pastor, I am a good reader,
and I enjoy reading. I will read them! Next
time, I will bring my best friend.”
Toussaint had worked as a lawyer
the previous year, with dreams since
the age of 25 of getting rich to leave his
family with a large inheritance.
At the next meeting, he came with
Christian, his friend. We shared the
Gospel again, and after three more appointments,
they both repented and decided
to be baptized. But they asked for
discretion. “We don’t want our parents
to be aware of our salvation.”
“It will be just between the four of
us,” I assured them.
Two days later, they came for the
baptism down at the lake.
Unfortunately, Pastor Joseph, my
assistant, took a picture with his cellphone
during the baptism. Two weeks
later, Joseph sold his phone to Claver,
Toussaint’s younger brother, and forgot
to delete the pictures. Claver saw
Toussaint’s baptism and reported it to
their father.
