Mike
Today, his network has grown to 37
churches in a region that covers 200
miles, and he and four other leaders train
these pastors two weeks each month.
Mica learned from Edward about their
need for pastoral training and discipleship
materials. So, when she returned to the U.S.
from Uganda, she searched the internet and
found the One Mission Society website. She liked
what she saw and called the OMS headquarters.
She connected with Mike Dragon, the global director (player
#3 in our story) of Every Community for Christ.
Mike took Mica’s information and passed it on to the
church multiplication facilitator for East Africa … me! (#4
player). The thread continued as I, in turn, received Edward’s
information and shared it with Peter Baraka (#5 player), our
OMS village church planting (VCP) supervisor
for East Africa. They met in the spring
of 2019, and Peter shared the VCP vision
with Edward for training men and women
to plant churches that would, in turn, plant churches.
Fast forward 10 months. This past February, Peter traveled
to Uganda to Edward’s region and trained six men and
women as VCP church planters. Jacinter, Edward’s wife, is
one of the new trainers. Each trainer will recruit and train 15
more church planters, most of whom will plant their first church
Chuck
in late 2020.
Later in February, Edward traveled to the U.S. to visit friends and
raise funds for the school and orphanage. Mica hosted him during
his time in Fort Wayne. When I heard about the opportunity, I drove up and met
them for a long lunch. The dots are now all connected. Mica and Edward, Mica
and Mike, Mike and Chuck, Chuck and Peter, Peter and Edward, and now Mica,
Edward, and Chuck.
Mica’s future plans include leading teams back to Uganda
to assist with children’s ministry, pastoral training, medical,
community empowerment, and agricultural training.
As I reflect on this chain of events, several lessons emerge:
• God continues to use people; we are his colaborers.
• Each one of us has a part to play.
• As we do our part, God does what only he can do.
