Five individuals. Six connections.
One all-knowing architect of it all.
Our story begins a couple of years ago when Mica Fensler,
a nurse from Fort Wayne, Indiana, led a short-term mission
team to Uganda to work at an orphanage in Rakai. AIDS
had struck this region particularly hard, resulting in many
orphans.
At the Goodwill Orphanage, Mica met the second player
in our story, Bishop Edward Mbuyi. Edward grew up in Kenya,
where his father was a pastor. Following his undergraduate and
graduate studies in England, when it was time to return to Africa,
Edward
there was tribal unrest in Kenya, so he and his family settled in
next-door Uganda. When they heard about the need in Rakai, they
moved to southern Uganda and started the orphanage and a school.
Edward did not plan to plant churches, but as children arrived at the orphanage
from surrounding villages, they told him of the need for churches. So, Edward
began organizing and training pastors.
