Leadership Training
IMPACT
By Dr. Rachel Coleman, Regional TLEAD
Consultant for Latin America
Effective evangelism and disciple-making for the nations
and the multiplication of churches in local contexts across the
globe—this is the heart and soul of One Mission Society. And
because the forward movement of that mission is rooted in
raising up and training new generations of pastors, teachers,
leaders, missionaries, and soul-winners for those churches
and networks of churches, OMS has always been committed to
establishing and partnering with Bible schools and seminaries in ev-
ery context where we have a presence. Today, that ministry is known as TLEAD
or Theological Leadership Education and Discipleship.
TLEAD’s mission statement is simple: “Developing leaders for the global
church.” We do that in four ways: teaching fellows, regional consultants, leader-
ship development, and discipleship development. (To learn more about each of
these and to read more impact stories, visit tlead.omsg.org.) TLEAD partners
with 33 OMS-related schools and seminaries in 20 nations, touching the
lives of more than 4,300 students enrolled in those training programs. The
real impact of TLEAD, however, is not rooted in what we do or in the statistics
about those activities. The true impact of TLEAD is in who we are—the regional
theological education consultants and the network of approved teaching fellows.
Currently, nine OMS missionaries serve as regional theological education con-
sultants, with the goal of guiding, supporting, and assisting leaders at our partner
schools in their pursuit of best practices for theological education and leadership-
discipleship development. Last year, our team of consultants traveled more than
200,000 miles and spent countless hours in face-to-face meetings and on Skype,
Zoom, and WhatsApp, connecting schools with resources, building bridges from
curriculum needs to available teaching fellows, serving on advisory and trustee
boards of partner schools, and often stepping into the gap to fill a teaching need.
Here are some glimpses of our impact:
