2 Timothy 2:2 Lived Out
Four adult leaders trained 5 older teens to disciple 16 younger teens from Chongón, Pascuales, and Puente Lucía, Ecuador. Together, the team led a Vacation Bible School for 80 children and youth from the Pallatanga community. OMS missionaries hosted the camp at Camp Lugar de Shalom, also known as Camp Pallatanga. What a blessing to see multi-generational discipleship in action.
“ And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also”( 2 Timothy 2:2).
Nudged to Step Inside
Yos * wasn’ t the church-going type, and he wasn’ t planning to start that night. As he walked near his home in the Caribbean, he noticed a house church meeting nearby. He had no intention of attending, but something nudged him to step inside.
“ When I entered the home, people showed boundless love,” Yos said.“ They shared a meal with me, and honestly, I was just hungry.”
After his stomach was full and he was satisfied, Yos decided to leave. But as he walked farther away, something tugged at him. He turned around and headed back toward the house. Standing outside the front door, he hesitated, yet he felt a pull inside. As he crept into the house during the church service, the music and the message began to latch onto his soul.
“ The music and the words the pastors shared brought a lump to my throat, and I began to cry,” he said.“ I couldn’ t contain myself.”
Near the end of the meeting, the pastor asked if anyone wanted to follow Jesus.
“ I don’ t know how, but my hand raised,” Yos said.“ I realized I was receiving Jesus Christ into my heart. I have suffered a lot and have made others suffer, but God gave me the opportunity to become one of his children. I have joy in my life, serving my Savior.”
Today, Yos is a brother in Christ because of the welcome he received and the kindness he experienced at an OMS-related partner church in the Caribbean. The Holy Spirit is working through OMS, and this is just one example of that work.
