how God is wooing every tribe , tongue , and nation to himself by watching him do so in different cultural contexts . They learn to better evangelize , disciple , and train believers in another culture . They minister alongside experienced residential missionaries to see a real , in-depth perspective of daily missionary life . As Embarkers walk alongside field missionaries , these missionaries help participants grow in their character and leadership abilities . Sometimes , we just need someone we respect to point out the potential in us . As OMS missionaries pour into Embarkers , these Embarkers can better discern how God is calling them to serve him long term .
Show Me the Numbers
Since the start of Embark , we have seen a consistent uptick in the number of people serving through Embark . In 2021 , three served with Embark . In 2022 , we had seven , and in 2023 , nine people served . Not only is this increase help- ful to our fields and the ministries they are part of , but Embark also often leads to longer-term commitments . In the last three years , a quarter of our Embarkers have returned to serve with OMS for one year or longer !
Looking Forward
As we consider and dream about what God could have in store for Embark , we pray he would grow our fields , continue to develop our teams , increase the number of opportunities we can provide , and bring new Embarkers who will say “ Yes !” to the call to long-term missionary service . We pray God will equip new disciple-makers , that the Gospel will be proclaimed , and that many around the world will accept Jesus and follow him .
What next step is God calling you to take ?
