Internships allow students to explore career paths outside of their school environment . Because internships provide skill growth , most universities require their students to complete one before graduating .
My school , Grace College in northern Indiana , is no different . To graduate , I must log 120 hours in an internship . I wanted one that would grow my vocational skills while connecting me with missionaries as I seek guidance for my future in ministry .
My academic advisor recommended an internship with OMS . Because I am considering overseas missions , the inclusion of a short-term mission trip in the program put this internship at the top of my list .
The OMS internship allowed me to apply skills I ’ ve acquired in class to a professional setting . My duties as the journalism intern in the Marketing and Communications Department included writing blogs and articles , researching and creating OMS promotional material , and writing content for One Mission Kids . Through this work , I witnessed the vital support the Communications team provides
