Järvevanake
A character from one of the legends of Tallinn. Järvevanake, translated as „Old man from the lake“ is a vilain that
is trying to destroy the city of Tallinn once it will be finished. Järvevanake leaves in the Ülemiste lake that is not
very far from the Old Town of Tallinn. There is no clear
explanation why he hates Tallinn so much. In this comic
book järvevanake is the grandfather of Näkk.
Näkk
A mythical character from Estonian folklore that lives in
the water. Näkk is a mermaid-like creature who lures the
ones who do not pay attention into a well or any other
place with water and drowns them there. According to
this comic book Näkk is the girlfriend od Vana Toomas and
granddaughter of Järvevanake.
Project Game-creator: Do It Yourself.
Game-creator: Do It Yourself is a youth initiative project led by young people of Tallinn and executed in Tallinn, Estonia. The aim of the project is
to trigger creative thinking in young people and help them to apply their
creativity and various skills to create modern entertainment material such
as social or educative board games and comic books. Through workshops
and seminars young people will have the opportunity to develop skills and
take up an initiative to create something from scratch. DIY game-creator
gives young people from minorities in Estonia a chance to become more
enterprising, creative, active and learn about opportunities that they
have.
