Vana Toomas
A symbol and guard of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Vana
Toomas is translated as „Old Toomas“ and is the main
hero of some legends in Tallinn. Being not from a noble
family he became the guard of Tallinn, which was an honour. He managed to do that by winning an archery competition. Now Vana Toomas can be seen daily as he is always
on top of the town hall’s tower as a windvane. According
to this story Vana Toomas is in love with Näkk.
Nukitsamees
Nukitsamees is a character of a tale by Oskar Luts, that
was released in 1920. Nukitsamees is translated as „a boy
with horns“. A little demon who has been living in a house
of a witch and and was saved by two youngsters, Nukitsamees was taken to the city and was given a chance to
live a life with people. Nukitsamees is dreaming to grow
big and make something great for the world. According to
this comic book Nukitsamees is living together with Suur
Tõll and is great with working with technology.
Suur Tõll
Mythical hero of Estonian culture. Suur Tõll is a strong
giant from Saaremaa island. Suur Tõll is translated as „Tõll
the Great“. Suur Tõll constructed several churches and
many times saved the people of Saaremaa from various
villains. Suur Tõll is a very kind but hot-tempered giant
who loves to help people, eat cabbage and go to sauna.
