DEVELOPMENT AND SCHOOL NEWS
We welcomed prospective Fifth Year students and their families at a lively Open Evening last October, offering an inside look at our design process and leaving families excited to support their children’ s creative journey.
This year’ s Design Prize went to Harry Blakey for his practical, innovative multi-lamb feeding station, while Art students showcased their work in town, at school, and through a special video project for Mayor Roly Cronshaw.
DESIGNING THE FUTURE: A YEAR OF INNOVATION, GROWTH, AND GRATITUDE
Thanks to the generosity of OPs, the wider Pocklington School community, and other supporters, the Art and Design departments at Pocklington School have had a truly transformative year. Seven years after the opening of our Art and Design Technology Centre, the impact is more visible than ever, from the buzz of new equipment to the inspiring work of our students.
We’ ve upgraded our facilities with a new laser cutter, 3D printers, vinyl cutter, scanner, and more, and launched a darkroom for analogue photography. OP James Stathers( 86-95) returned as Head of Design, bringing fresh energy and leadership. Curriculum updates, contemporary art workshops, and gallery visits have further enhanced learning for all year groups.
Younger pupils have also joined in, from Prep School mural painting to decorating the local church Christmas tree with eco designs. We’ re now expanding our outreach with local primary schools to introduce more children to the world of design.
The Centre is now a thriving hub of creativity, hosting key school events and preparing to welcome its largest-ever cohort of Art and Design students in September 2025.
None of this would be possible without your support. Thank you for helping us nurture creativity, inspire young talent, and shape the future through design and art.
GIVING BACK IN 2024-2025
One of the core tenets in Pocklington School’ s philosophy is that of public benefit and of‘ giving back’ to our local community. The below infographic demonstrates the way in which Pocklington School has given back in the last academic year.
