PIXIES CC ANNUAL REPORT 2022
On Sunday 7 August , a well-attended Pixies touring group made the journey down to Kent and East Sussex for the 56th annual tour .
Day one saw Rob Boddy ( 08-19 ) make an important breakthrough at Holmesdale , and Olly Bone impress on debut , taking 3 wickets for 29 runs . Holmesdale posted a respectable 264 all out , but the Pixies did not hang around in response . Joe Moore ( 82-91 ) blazed 46 off just 32 balls , and Charlie Lambert ( 01-08 ) got a quickfire 40 . The star of the show , however , was Henry Bayston ( 11-17 ), who scored his third Pixie century – a mark of intent for the week to come . The Pixies knocked off the runs with 6 overs to spare , starting the week off with a win .
The fixture against Eastbourne again saw Henry Bayston ( 61 ) in the runs , who alongside debutant Chris Wood ( 55 ), saw the Pixies post a sizeable 217 . Thanks to some tight bowling early doors , the run chase never really got going , and the Pixies bowled Eastbourne out for 167 . Chris Wood the pick of the bowlers , taking 3 wickets .
Haywards Heath won the toss and elected to bat on day three of the tour , and it was clear to see why . Their overseas bowled short , and fast , and the Pixies soon found themselves 26-4 . Despite a mini resurgence from Ben Burdett , Tom Taylor and Chris Suddaby ( 02-10 ), the Pixies ended up all out for 156 . Despite Tom Burdett ’ s 3 wickets early on , and Adam Iyer ’ s ( 96-06 ) brace at the death , Haywards Heath won with 3 wickets to spare . The game did however , see Matthew Atkinson ( 85-93 ) reach 100 caps , a feat only achieved by 9 others .
The visit to Marden saw the hosts bat first , and a wicket in his first over saw Chris Suddaby secure a 19 over opening bowling spell , on the day he celebrated his 50th cap . Finishing with 4 wickets for 43 runs , he was the pick of the bowlers . Ollie Rook was the main contributor in the reply , scoring 83 out of the winning 182 to make it three wins from four . The final game saw the Pixies post a huge 292 in their 45 overs thanks to Miles Picknett ’ s ( 77-84 ) 87 runs and 86 from Henry Bayston . When Harry Holland ( 16-22 ) took a wicket in the first over , the Pixies looked to be in a commanding position ,
however a ridiculous innings from Hastings overseas Abhay Negi ( 83 ) and a fantastic knock from Demari Benta ( 115 *) saw the hosts chase down 293 inside 27 overs .
We once again have many people to thank for another successful tour . Our committee , comprising of Marcus Townend ( 72-82 ), Charlie Lambert , and Matthew Atkinson , for organising the tour and all that goes into it . We express great thanks to the OP Association for their continued support , ensuring that it is financially viable for the younger generation to come on the tour . Thanks to the players who turned up , maxing out at 23 players is incredible and maintains the long-term future of the club . Final thanks go to our hosts , without whom the tour would not be possible , so thank you to : Holmesdale , Eastbourne , Haywards Heath , Marden and Hastings – we will see you next year !
