Mountain Gate Poker Run
Do you need to get away but your wallet won ' t let you go too far ? Maybe you just won the lottery and need to ditch all the crazy relatives ? I may have your solution ! How about riding the asphalt ribbon of southeast Oklahoma to the Talimena National Scenic Byway ? The Talihina Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to join the 10th Annual Mountain Gate Poker Run on Saturday , April 8 . This ride will take you through Bigfoot Mountain Pass west into Clayton and back up the heart-stopping valley to Talihina . You must be 18 or older to participate but all forms of transportation is welcome ( as long as you can travel 125 miles in 7 hours , that is ). Better leave Milford the pack mule at home .
This amazing run will take you down gorgeous scenic valleys and the curves of the Winding Stair and the Kiamichi Moutains . With each hug of road and over every endless pass , you will find it just a little more breathtaking than the one before . This is a chance to forget your stress and fly as free as the wind will carry you . Registration will begin at 8 am at Pam ' s Hateful Hussy Diner , 304
Dallas St , Talihina , OK ( Downtown ) First bike out at 9 am , last bike out at noon . Poker hands will be $ 30 and includes a free meal at the last stop . The after party will take place at Chuck ' s Classic Cycles 15732 SE Highway 2 at 5 pm in Tuskahoma ( in between stops TBD ). Over $ 1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded plus a raffle , a $ 200 Dead Man ' s Hand drawing , a silent auction , t-shirts , a scavenger hunt and more . And if it rains , this event will be reschedule for one week later on April 15 , so hit up your weather man before heading out . All proceeds go to the Talihina Chamber of Commerce : they do great things , including running the Visitors Center .
