Get Ready for Convention!!!

2. Get started on Pre-Convention Contests!

The OJCL also hosts an array of Pre-Convention contests, which must be submitted at a date prior to Convention. Want to channel your inner Shakespeare, Ovid, or Catullus? Consider submitting a piece of work into the Poetry Pre-Con category. Feeling extra Folklore today? Maybe try your hand at Modern Myth, and create a retelling of your favorite transformation, tragedy, or love story.

3. Cram for Academic Contests (and Certamen!)

These following weeks are perfect for last-minute studying for academic contests! Are you an ancient history buff? A derivative or etymology expert? Consider brushing up on obscure facts, events, or figures in your area of interest! And if you’re looking for a challenge, consider taking the Pentathlon test at convention; it's essentially 5 academic categories in one!

4. Do some last-minute workshopping on Creative Arts (Visual and Performing)

Last but not least, use these final club meetings to get prepped for creative or visual art contests! Nothing gets the creative juices flowing like completing a Classics-inspired magnum opus on a bus ride to Columbus! Or spending a late night memorizing your Dramatic Interpretation or Latin Recitation Script!

With these words of advice, I hope you're able to make the most of these weekdays leading up to convention. Whether you're an Einstein at academic tests, a performer meant for Creative Arts, a master artist, or a skilled state office campaigner, we hope to see you March 6th-8th!
