Latin. First, it can help you on the ACT and

ts
SAT, in particular with vocabulary. If you take
Latin, you learn vocabulary and see how they derive
into English vocabulary. There are lots of words
derived particularly with biology and chemistry, such as
denaturalization and cis-trans Golgi Apparatus. Second,
you get to learn about Roman life and culture, which
includes mythology and history. There are common Latin
phrases you hear today that are Latin, such as “et cetera” and
“Nota Bene.” If you take Latin, you can meet other Latin
nerds and join them at special events, such as OJCL
convention in February/March. During Latin Convention,
you can meet other people who enjoy Latin. If you take
Latin, you can choose to join a certamen team that does
extremely well during Convention. When you take
Latin, you can choose to take national Latin exams,
such as the National Latin Etymology Exam and
the Medusa Myth Exam. If you get an award
on the tests, they look great on your
college resume.
