The Return of the DoubleTree
Joseph Delamerced, OJCL President,
Summit Country Day
On January 6, the OJCL Executive Board held its Winter Planning Meeting at the DoubleTree
Hotel, the site of the 68th Convention of the Ohio Junior Classical League. For those who came in
2016, the DoubleTree is a relatively familiar location. The open-space Upper Terrace, the
mysterious and forbidden pool, and most importantly, the cookies of the front desk became
memorable parts of the venue. during our tour, we re ected on some humorous memories and
curiously wondered how the map seemed to indicate that we “teleported” from one end of the
hotel to the other.
Once the tour concluded, we discussed and planned for the Convention. I’m excited to share
with you a few of the more notable parts.
• The spirit themes were of cially announced a few weeks ago, but in case you missed them,
they are: Club T-shirts (based on the Convention theme), Romans at the Races, and Cinema

.The OJCL Convention will be held March 9-11 at the DoubleTree Columbus-Worthington
