Run for Office!
O-HI-OJCL! My name is Sarah Lee, and I
am so honored to serve you as your NJCL
Parliamentarian this year. I’m even more
grateful to be featured in the OJCL
Torch! From being so welcoming to
making #thrive truly thrive in the JCL,
Ohio stands out in my mind as the state
with the warmest hugs and the brightest
smiles.
I want to take this time to encourage you
to run for office. We can all agree the
JCL has been a accepting and loving
family to us. What better way to give
back than serving the community as an
officer? Running for office is one of the
highest honors a JCLer can achieve, and I
urge you to take this next big step.
Whether you’re interested in promoting
the JCL throughout the nation and
encouraging schools to start new chapters
or creating video content to capture the
JCLove, the board has many different
duties and positions that you can choose.
You can enact change as a national, state,
or local officer. Look out for the 2018
NJCL Campaign Corner going live soon!

If you decide running for office is not the
path for you, I encourage you to at least be
an informed voter. Attend the Nominations
Committee Meeting, show up at Meet the
Candidates, and submit questions for Open
Forum! The candidates have spent months
preparing their campaigns, and they would
appreciate your input on the change you wish
to see to improve the JCL.
