Guide to National Convention North Gubernator Craig Bush, Shaker Heights What is National Convention? National Convention is like OJCL convention, except it is a convention for JCL Chapters across the entire nation that lasts a week. I attended my first nationals last summer at Miami University in Ohio, and it was the best week ever. Here are some tips if  Fargo will be your first time. #1 #2 #3 #4 Meet other people. This is the largest JCL convention, and it is not contained in a small hotel. Nationals occurs on a college campus, and there are JCLers from all across the nation. Make friends from other states, since chances are, you and someone else from a different state may have something in common. Explore the tests. At nationals, you have more options in regards to tests. At state, you only have 9 tests available to take. However at nationals, you have the option to take heptathlon and the decathlon, as well as ancient Greek tests. You may surprise yourself with how well you score! Watch what you eat.  Because nationals is at a college campus, you will eat in a traditional college dining court. It can be very easy to toss food away since it’s an all you can eat bar, but judge your plate. It’s better to grab too little food instead of too much. Attend That's Entertainment! You will be amazed at the performances that people prepped for convention. You will also see the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and indispensable SCL. And you can’t forget about the Racketeers. 22
