Hi all! I'm Kori McLane your new (favorite) OJCL Historian. I'm here to document Ohio's best Convention memories and highlight local club activities through our photo submission contests (where you get a chance to win a pizza party)! After hanging out with you at convention, I'm so excited to be serving y'all as a member of the Executive Board.
Editor Sai Basava
Fellow JCLers, my name is Sai Basava and I am your incoming editor for the next year. I look forward to getting to know you and what YOU want from the Torch. I plan to work on streamlining the process to submit articles, as well as making sure that those who wish to submit have a list of prompts to draw inspiration from (this includes you officers!). I will also work on sending out a form for those who do want to submit articles so we can get the Torch out to you earlier.
North Gubernator Meredith Hurley
I have a few goals for the OJCL that I would like to accomplish in my time as North Gubernator. I wish to bring more awareness and attention to all the OJCL events and gain more participation from the schools in the north. I hope to plan to make a difference a day early and get the best possible turnout by promoting it thoroughly. For promotion, I plan to stay in close contact with consuls of the north delegations to discuss OJCL advertising events. I also want to make sure that each Latin club has an active, educational, and welcoming Instagram page in which they can promote activities and further foster a love for the classics within their schools.
Central Gubernator Carolina Mize
Convention was amazing this year! From Certamen to exciting colloquia to JCL’s Got Talent, the convention was truly a blast! It was so fun to hang out with friends and meet new people! Every year that I attend, it seems as if it only gets better. Being around amazing people and participating in so many activities makes the convention so special. The academic testing, though it may seem scary, gives everyone a chance to improve and get better. Ultimately, though, living in the present and enjoying being with others who love Latin is what the convention is all about.
South Gubernator Ana Smith
Salvete! My name is Ana Smith and I’m a rising junior at Walnut Hills. In addition to JCL, I’m a drum major in my school’s marching band and a defender on the lacrosse team. When I’m not occupied by extracurriculars, I enjoy reading, knitting, and playing the clarinet. 2024 was my first convention and I really enjoyed meeting everybody. I can’t wait to work on building connections between clubs in the Cincinnati area so we can learn from each other and grow together!
