Officer Bios
1st Vice-President Philip Towbin
Hi everyone! My name is Philip Towbin, and I’m your OJCL 24-25 1st Vice President. My biggest goal this upcoming year is to increase our social media presence. Doing this means creating a more interactive account for you all. My favorite memory from the convention has to be getting pied in the face! Although getting the smell of whipped cream off of me was a pain, we raised a lot of money for a great benefit! I cant wait for this upcoming year with you all!
2nd Vice-President Hana Conte
Salvete! If you’re reading this then you already know who I am since I am kind of the person who put together this edition of the Torch, but in case you’ve forgotten since page one, my name is Hana Conte, and I am your 2024-2025 OJCL Second Vice President! As a reminder for those who weren’t paying attention during campaign speeches at Convention (I’ve been there, don’t worry), my goals for my term are to enhance service participation by helping individual clubs schedule service events in their regions, compile a list of all the service organizations OJCL has worked with in the past, and work with our 1st VP to give seasonal recognition to clubs who engage in service! And of course, a fun memory from convention was half-running through the halls in heels to change out of my costume before NomCom.
Secretary Carter Riordan
Salvete! If you haven’t met me yet, my name is Carter Riordan and I am your OJCL secretary. Convention this year was great and everything was so memorable. My favorite part was looking at everyone’s graphic arts projects. Some of you have a crazy amount of skill. The charts and maps were especially fun to look at. This year I look forward to making the board more transparent and accessible to the students. I can’t wait to see everyone at nationals!
Treasurer Sabrina Bong
Salvete omnes! My name is Sabrina Bong (you can call me Sab), and I’m your 2024-2025 OJCL treasurer. My goals for my term include: establishing relationships with fundraising partners, increasing our scholarship fund for 2025 state convention, creating a sticker-design graphic-arts contest (the winner of this contest will have their design sold at NJCL agora), and WINNING SPIRIT AT NATIONALS!!! My favorite part of convention is being around people who get me, embarrassing myself at certamen (I will buzz no matter what), and creative arts.
Parliamentarian Ella Chi
As the Parliamentarian this year, my goals include making elections, the Constitution, and By-Laws more approachable for everyone and hearing feedback from you all! Therefore, I will be making podcasts to cover sections of our Constitution and hosting meetings with local chapters' leaders. It's hard to pick a favorite from the convention this year; the one thing that stood out was the new friends I made! Running for office is a great experience and an amazing opportunity to create new connections.
