All About Nationals
Why You Should Go to
Nats

With Nationals quickly approaching, committing to a full-fledged week of classics can sometimes be hard. However, I’m here to tell you to commit. This is why:
While you may believe it will be hard to meet new people, it’s not. Last year was my first national convention, and I still talk to some of the people I met! Bonds are formed even within your chapter, and you can meet people that you normally would never talk to! Additionally, with many events such as dances, the NJCL board makes sure that you can meet some new friends. Whether you’re just hanging out in the Student union playing Fortnite and Mariokart with a random kid from California or buying items from other states during Agora, you are sure to meet many new faces!
Nationals isn’t just about the classics. Sure, that’s the reason why we’re all here, but there’s so much more to explore and do. Basketball tournaments, races, swimming, and even rock climbing are available to everyone! You can explore what the university has to offer on any day and trust me, there is a lot to explore.
Food. The dining halls are pretty good. Especially with new food every day, you will never be bored. And if you’re worried about allergies, don’t worry. The university has got you covered. (Also, they have an Ice Cream machine.)
I’m assuming that since you’re reading this, you have at least a slight interest in the JCL. The Classics community is something unlike anything else. Spirit, contests, and the love of Latin and Greek are what make us special. While state convention is awesome, nationals is about ten-fold as awesome. I truly believe that anyone who goes to nationals will leave wishing that they had gone the previous year. You will have a good time. Don’t just take my word for it. Ask your sponsors, ask anyone who has been before. They’ll say the same thing. If you don’t even believe them, you may have to check it out for yourself. Maybe, just maybe, you will find a home. A new home full of Classics students just like you. Venture out of your comfort zone. Meet some new people. Go to Nationals!
