NJCL Guide

President Daniel Kim (Sycamore)

Are you all ready for NJCL convention? With nationals just right around the corner you may be wondering what goes on during nationals and what to bring/be prepared for and this is just the guide for you! First, make sure to bring a pair of comfortable running shoes. As the University of Tennessee is very large, you have to walk all around the campus to get to your different events. This could be ludi, certamen, colloquias, GA, or different contests. Having a pair of comfortable shoes makes it a lot easier to walk these distances. Second, make sure to bring some cash as throughout convention there are many different opportunities to buy things including Agora, the book store, snacks, etc. Although many places take card, some will only take cash so it's nice to have some with you at all times. Third, make sure you are ready to talk to new people. As there are a lot more people at national convention than states, it is nearly impossible to not meet new people. This gives a good opportunity to make friends and bond with others through your passion of the classics. Fourth, MAKE SURE TO SLEEP. I know it may be tempting to stay up with your friends at night, but trust me... you will need that sleep. NJCL runs all day and events take up a lot of time and effort so it is vital that you get your sleep so that you are energized enough to participate. Finally, make sure to bring all your necessities when traveling. These include toiletries, clothes, DEODARANT, etc. I hope this guide was at least a bit helpful and have fun at Nationals!
