40 We’ve been busy with many other activities besides preparing for convention. On October 27th we held our Sacer Vespers Halloween party, where we played trivia games and competed to see who could make the most fashionable togas using nothing but toilet paper. On December 15th, we held our Saturnalia party, where we sang Latin carols and played “Toga Twister.” On February 2nd, we held our second annual “Toga Bowling” with Wyoming at Crossgate Lanes. There, we fostered a sense of community as we got to know Latin students from another school. We talked about everything our clubs had been up to, last year’s Nationals, how cool our t-shirts were, and our plans for the upcoming convention. It was a great opportunity to hang out with friends and meet others who share a love for the Classics. Perhaps the most amusing part was watching the other guests wonder why a group of toga- wearing high schoolers were bowling under the aliases of notable Romans. Of course, the year is far from over for the Sycamore Latin Club. We have a few months’ worth of club meetings to go, as well as our Senior Send-Off in May, where our seniors are congratulated for their efforts in the Latin program over the years. We’re already planning ways to up our game for next year’s convention. Next year we’ll be more organized than ever, and maybe we’ll even start planning our banner more than a few days in advance! We have grown a lot as a club, both in numbers and in the things we do, but we’re always looking to do even better. We look forward to another wonderful year ahead!
