Campaigning can sometimes seem confusing! This compilation of rules and tips will hopefully clear Campaigning Rules everything up! Failure to abide by all rules may result in disqualification, so please Campaigning read these carefully and email me with questions! 1. If you feel like you need to ask, ask or don't do it 2. No campaigning until after Nom Com 3. No stickers (to protect the hotel) 4. All campaigning must be positive! 5. All campaign materials must be pre-approved by the State Chair and the Parliamentarian a. Spending limit of $50, bring receipts to Nom Com! b. Keep in mind that all 'donated' materials will be counted towards the $50 spending limit. This includes posters and paper previously purchased as well as any printing/copying that you do at home or school. These materials will be assessed at the lesser price between Amazon.com and Staples on the day of Nom Com. As of January '20, Staples charged $.60 for color copies and $.12 for black and white 6. Although you may use social media, Airdrop may not be used to spread materials in any capacity. 7. You may not interfere with the campaigns of others 8. All evidence of your campaign must be removed before the Third General Assembly (to keep the hotel clean) Ryan decided to have a friend walk with a poster as he walked 9. Candidates must attend Nom Com and Meet the Candidates around with candy. This is great way to talk to people but also make yourself known! Designing Campaign Materials 1. The first step is choosing how you want to campaign. You can create large handheld posters, pamphlets, or buy candy 2. If you decide to create posters, make them eye-catching and clean so that people can read them easily. Color is a great way to do this, or maybe sparkles! Get creative! 3. If you decide to make pamphlets, I would suggest putting ideas and goals in short form. People will not read the pamphlets if they look bad or too long. 4. If you decide to buy candy, keep allergies in mind! Suckers or Smarties are great options, but avoid Snickers and Almond Joys. You will also want a basket to carry the candy in 5. There are plenty of great ideas I haven't thought of! Campaigning Strategies 1. Once you decide how to campaign, come up with a good strategy for getting your name and ideas out! 2. Getting members of your delegation to hand out pamphlets will allow you to do more talking! 3. Asking friends to carry posters will get your name out quickly 4. Find a place where lots of people go so you can easily talk with them 5. Think of a quick elevator pitch to convey ideas well These are some examples of great catchphrases being used to make candidates memorable!
