oh!!! wo-(man-ia) edition 3 may‘2014 In conversation with... Q: Why do you abuse? And how important it is for you to express your feelings? Q: Do you think people spit out venom in anger and disgust but hardly think about its literal meaning? A: YES. Totally. Mindless n senseless use. Most of the times A: I DON'T. ;-) Whenever I use them at all it is to vent anger. Nothing else. Actually if you think MC BC N OTHER WORDS HAVE BECOME A PART OF THE VOCABULARY OF THE INDIAN MALE. More particularly the Central and North Indian men. And is used liberally without meaning it and implying it. But is a perfect example of the society being a bloody big MCP. But our society's hypocrisy prevents the compilation of these words in a regular so-called civilized dictionary. One can express the feelings and emotions etc. in a normal civilized way but none can beat the cuss words and their effectiveness.  Imagine you driving down and someone breaks a signal and almost hits you. You get angry and depending on the upbringing you have, you start with the choicest of abuses. Irrespective of the offender listening or not. But you have vented out. It's put off your system. And then you forget. You have left the incident then and there. You don't carry it on your mind. It is absolutely imperative that one expresses ones feelings but definitely not at the cost of hurting other fellow. That's not acceptable.  See I feel the abuses and its uses can be classified into 3 categories. : 1. Spoken in anger meaning every bit of it.  2. Spoken amongst close friends in jest and humor without meaning its original connotation.  3. Spoken in habit in public as well. Harmless use, meaning not implied or intended at all.  But it shouldn't be used wherever. That's what I feel.  innocent.  But now a days you know it is so common. One starts a sentence which changes to cuss words in between and suddenly realizes he's in public, and just use the phonetic sound of that word and people understand. These cuss words sometimes are used to lay stress, emphasize a point and attract attention of the listener. And they are so affective in doing that. No other words can replicate them.  Q: You are an artist and art appreciator, how do you see novels, theatre, cinema, music change in relation to the ample use of umpteen slangs and cusses? A: All these art forms are a reflection of contemporary society.    Q: Do you think that avoiding foul language will help this and the future generations in anyway? How? A: OFCOURSE YES. No doubt about that. How it will? I dunno. But avoiding is a good option. And the new generation abuses and cusses are like assess. Oops! I mean donkeys. Dumb, dull and lacking spices. This is mainly because of the use of English as the main language. The sheen and edges the punch of the hindi gaalis is slowly going away. And the creativity is also fading. Come on the gen-X be original if you wish to go cussing. Evolve the traditions of your fore- fathers and the culture that has given rise and nurtured the phenomenal treasure of gaalis. I have no hesitation in accepting them and also in feeling proud about the rich cultural heritage One of the most interesting words in the English language today is the word 'fuck'. It is one magical word. Just by its sound it can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love. In language, it falls into many grammatical categories. It can be used as a verb, both transitive (John fucked Mary) and intransitive (Mary was fucked by John), and as a noun (Mary is a fine fuck). It can be used as an objective (Mary is fucking beautiful). As you can see there are not many words with the versatility of 'fuck'. Besides the sexual meaning, there are also the following uses: Ignorance: Fucked if I know. Trouble: I guess I am fucked now! Fraud: I got fucked at the used car lot. Aggression: Fuck you! Displeasure: What the fuck is going on here? Difficulty: I can't understand this fucking job. Incompetence: He is a fuck off. Suspicion: What the fuck are you doing? Enjoyment: I had a fucking good time. Request: Get the fuck out of here. Hostility: I am going to knock your fucking head off! Greeting: How the fuck are you? Apathy: Who gives a fuck? Innovation: Get a bigger fucking hammer. Surprise: Fuck! You scared the shit out of me. Anxiety: Today is really fucked. And it is very healthy too.
