This edition we @ Oh! Womania tried to dissect the science of verbal abuses.
Speech. Expression. Freedom. Freedom to
what extent, then? We are a democracy
and have been, for over 60 years now and
we proudly bask in the glory of the basic
rights bestowed upon individuals foremost being the freedom of speech and
expression. We go about expressing our
ideas of right and wrong to the extent that
there are revolutions time and again. And
at times, we merely take the liberty of
using words that just seem "in trend".
Why? Because that makes one upbeat!
mother and sister of a friend, apparently, to
express deep affection and brotherhood.
So, how do men share the brotherhood in
India? By collectively abusing each other
out of sheer love and involving their
sisters and mothers in those dreaded
abuses. If a man is not worthy enough that
means he should be doing his mother or
sister. If he is endearing, even then he
should be doing his mother and sister.
And if he is nothing, if he is decent, docile,
he should still be doing his mother and
sister. Why?
""What the "f*ck" is the Government upto?"
- Freedom of expression.
Because, the cuss words are like parts of
speech - without which the sentence is
incomplete. Remember the three golden
words that were taught in schools? Please, Thank you and Sorry?
"Ch***ye, sa**e, catch kyu chhoda, Bh*s*di
k*!! " - Freedom of emotions
"Agar aisa chalta raha toh, bh*****d, rape
ke kisse aur badh jayenge desh me" Freedom of allegations
"M**therf****er, how dare you steal my
glass of water" - Freedom of retaliation and
demand of basic right.
"Hey dude, where were you all this time,
f***er? Saale, chaudhvi ka chand ho gaya tu!
Bh*****d, kaha busy rehta hai tu? We
missed you!" - Freedom of abusing the
Do I accept it? No, strictly no. It is highly
derogatory to me and my clan. A woman is
a sister, mother, daughter and they do not
have to be put to sexual torture to dignify
or disgrace a man, even if it is a mere
cuss. We don't want it.
Can I help change it? No. Why? Because,
apparently Indian constitution says, we are
free. We have the freedom of expression
and speech and people hereby will take
full advantage of this freedom. That's what
happens in a democracy. That’s what has
been happening. When you give freedom
to someone, it is highly likely that they
would misuse it. We have misused it to an
extent where we cannot differentiate
between what is good and what is bad.
Well, now even if they are taught, they
aren't practiced enough. Instead we have
words like BC, MC and Ch***** adorning
our sentences and adding more sense to
the expression. They are the new Golden
words which make impact in a speech.
Is any statement, with intense emotions,
complete without using abuses? Say a
driver on the road, an ardent fan watching
a cricket match, a person crossing the
road, a person observing the government
or stock trends? It is a part of every single
statement, people say, these days!
Until "sex" - as an act, is considered unholy or looked down upon, we will never be able to get away
with these abuses or cuss words. Because, everything begins and ends with sex, here in India. And
why so? Because it is a taboo and it shouldn’t be spoken about in the open.. Shhhh!
