To Abuses, with Love!
~Pooja Cornelius
“Sale, bh** ke takke, tere upar se gadi leke jaau kya?”
“Teri m** ki road tere baap ka hai kya”?
“Bh** ch** tu samjhta kya hai apne aap ko?”
My lord, yeh sarasar nainsafi hai. The ratio of 3:1…..
Wondering what ratio I am talking about? For every 3 abuses
related to women there is only 1 abuse related to men! Not fair!!
Ever wondered why this partiality? Well the answer lies in our
ancient scriptures. I am going to be really honest while I pen this
down. Women since the longest time haven’t been respected.
Talk about the wife of the Pandavas – ‘Draupadi’ or ‘Sita’ - the
wife of Maryada Puroshottam Raam (the best among men), to
present day women. All have had their issues with respect being abused and used as objects in swear words.
Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a sage, with his
wife in a small cottage. The wife was very pretty, young, vibrant
and a head turner for sure. One day the sage went to ask for
alms. There was a monkey - one eyed monkey who would sit
everyday on a tree close by to the hermit’s cottage. The wife
would feed the monkey with fruits and leftovers. One day, Indra
- the lord came down from heaven. He saw the lady and forced
himself on her. The one eyed monkey was the only witness to the
incidence; so Indra fulfilled his desires and went away. The sage
came back, saw his wife and was shocked. He asked her how that
had happened and she narrated her tale of ordeal to him. The
sage was dazed and asked if she had a witness? She pointed her
finger to the one eyed monkey and said he had witnessed the
entire episode. The one eyed monkey, in defense of Lord Indra,
said , “I have just one eye, I could only see your wife”!!
Due to lack of witness, Indra wasn’t blamed for the deed and the
wife came to be known as a whore. So evidently, that’s how old
the series of abuses is - All related to women. Draupadi, who
married five men, just because a foolish woman didn’t want her
sons to fight for a woman, was dragged in the middle of a room
filled with men and was subjected to severe humiliation. Sita the
wife of Raam was asked to prove her virginity? Joke, as it may
sound.
I am against the abuses and have taken an oath not to abuse
anybody’s mother or sister rather I can use abuses involving the
not so fair sex. But will it even things out? Not really! So, I see no
point in abusing, in the first place. Do you agree?
Why? I ask myself and finally conclude the fact, that we have a lot to be proud of and to hide. Hide not because we are
ashamed of it but because those parts of the body are extremely beautiful to showcase [H[
