MEET AN
EXPERT
The creator of The Nourishing
Kitchen, Kat Weihen is a
passionate foodie who strives
to teach people how they can
have their cake and eat it too!
What exactly is The Nourishing
Kitchen? And how did it come about?
The Nourishing Kitchen is a place where
you can find inspiration, recipes and
information on all things food, ensuring
that in life you can have your cake and
eat it too!
The Nourishing Kitchen was born in the
home of personal trainer and health and
fitness educator, Kat Weihen. A selfconfessed ‘good food geek’, Kat loves
creating new snacks and treats and has
long been obsessed with the virtues of
natural, unprocessed ingredients and
their impact on a healthful diet.
Kat has a sweet tooth but found sugar did
not please her body, typically leaving her
feeling bloated and lethargic. This
inspired her to find a healthy alternative
to feed her sweet tooth, the concept of
‘how can I have my cake and eat it too’.
Through her recipes, tips, blogs and inhome demonstrations, Kat keeps The
Nourishing Kitchen’s followers updated
with what’s new on the superfood scene,
what’s healthy in the wholefoods
movements, and how to have your cake
and eat it, too – and all without putting
your waist, wallet or wellbeing at risk.
What to you think is more important
– fitness or nutrition?
I think they go hand-in-hand, but if I had
to pick one it would be nutrition. If you
fuel your body with the right foods (clean
and minimally processed) then that will
support your body and its functions.
How do you think people can

Soups are another great meal you can
make in large quantities and freeze.
Serve it with some warm quinoa or a side
of steamed vegetables.
As a guide, if it comes in a packet,
chances are it has gone through some
sort of processing and contains
preservatives, so try to keep your intake
of these to a minimum.
What is one of your food weaknesses?
