seriously consider adopting an adult dog
from a pound or rescue group. Some of
the advantages include:
• The dog is fully grown, so there’s no
shock when your ‘staffy’ pup grows up
to be mastiff-sized.
• You’ll gain a better idea of the breed
than you might have, if buying a
puppy from a pet shop.
• Many adult dogs are already toilet
trained. You might have one or two
accidents whilst your new dog learns
your specific rules, but it is usually a
lot easier than training a young pup
from scratch.
• Adult dogs are generally calmer and
more even tempered than puppies. At
the very least, you should be able to
gain a reasonable idea of the dog’s
temperament from meeting the dog
