THE WHOLESOME ATHLETE’S
HONEY BUZZ BARS
For a cure for the 3.30pm ‘hangries’ (when you’re so hungry
that you’re angry), check out these moorish Honey Buzz Bars
by Meg Gilmer, The Wholesome Athlete. Harnessing the
sustained energy of nuts and seeds, these Honey Buzz Bars
are free from wheat, gluten, dairy, refined sugar and grains,
and are the perfect way to banish the hangries!
What you’ll need:
3 cups seeds (I used pepitas, sunflower,
chia and linseed)
½ cup nuts (I used cashews, almonds,
walnuts and brazil nuts)
2 cups of dried fruit (I used dates and
apples), chopped
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup honey
¼ cup coconut oil, melted
How to make it:
• Grind the nuts with 2 cups of the seeds
to form a flour-like consistency and
place into a medium mixing bowl.
• Add the remaining seeds, dried fruit and
cinnamon and stir to combine.
• Pour in the melted coconut oil and
honey and mix well.
• Press mixture into a greased slice tin
and bake for 20 minutes at 180°C.
• Let the slice cool completely before
cutting into bars, wrapping individually
and storing in the fridge.
