Buriram City Pillar Shrine The " Buriram City Pillar Shrine " is a structure crafted in the Khmer architectural style by the Fine Arts Department . Created during the rule of King Suryavarman II , the city pillar is positioned at the center of the pagoda , replacing the original spot of Siwling . The pagoda boasts five floors , each adorned with jackfruit petal designs and directional deities . These elements serve as guardians , symbolizing protection and harmony in various directions , as per belief . The Ong Ruen , where the City Pillar is housed , occupies a pivotal role , representing stability . Its design draws inspiration from all four corners , signifying the diffusion of stability in all directions . This setting is utilized for ceremonial purposes . Crowning the city pillar ' s pinnacle are gold-embellished stained glass lotus motifs , allowing light to illuminate the city pillar .
