UP FOR VICTORY
British Riders Set to Thrill Home Fans at Silverstone Showdown
While the UK lacks an entrant in the MotoGP™ class , it is more than well represented in Moto2™ , with two of its three entrants aiming to become the first Brit to win at Silverstone since Danny Kent was the victor in 2015 .
Both Jake Dixon and Sam Lowes have won races this year so far and both will be aiming to overcome each other , as well as title contenders Tony Arbolino and Pedro Acosta for a memorable moment in the history of the British GP . It could be argued the charge will be led by Dixon . The 27-year old is currently in the best moment of his career . Having scored three podiums in the first seven races despite failing to get the best out of his machine in the opening laps , Dixon rode a near perfect race at Assen at the end of June to claim his maiden GP triumph .
Having come so close on several previous occasions ( Le Mans , 2020 , Indonesia , 2022 ), he admitted to feeling the weight of not winning a race on his shoulders before the Dutch TT . “ The big pressure was the fact I hadn ’ t won before ,” he admitted . “ That was bearing on my shoulders a lot . When you haven ’ t won and you ’ ve been so close …,” he said . “ I told ( my wife ) Sarah I was so nervous because I ’ d been in this position before , when I ’ ve had the pace to win and I ’ ve crashed out , or done something stupid ,” he said . But now the monkey is off his back , Dixon feels there is more to come . And he had a message for British fans . “ If you haven ’ t already bought your tickets for Silverstone , you know you need to buy them ,” he said . “ It ’ s going to be a corker of a show . I ’ ve got that first win now , I ’ ve got all the confidence in the world . Let ’ s go !”
