Officeworks Marion is a leader among stores At the National Leadership Conference, Officeworks Marion (SA) was announced as the National Store of the Year winners (see page 11). The team is passionate about helping make bigger things happen in their local community and achieved some fantastic results in FY18. “The Marion team is a close knit family that are always looking to support each other, they know when to work hard and when to have fun. I’m most proud of how they embrace of new team members, buddying up to ensure they feel supported during their first weeks and get the right training. A win- win, they are quickly up-skilled and understand and buy into our culture,” said Rob Kyle (Store Business Manager), pictured left with Wardy. Robert Kyle Store Business Manager Right now I’m working on: Helping store development with the roll out of MEP4, just goes to show the variety and opportunities you have at Officeworks. My favourite part of my job is: The people, a great team that makes it easy to come to work and interesting customers that are frequently impressed by what we offer. A typical day in my role looks like: As the Marion SBM I am reviewing store standards, setting expectations and then coaching my to team to be their best. I see it in my role to plan our workload to remove hurdles from my team so they can achieve. To me, leadership is: About creating a shared vision where everyone understands how their contribution helps their teammates and influences results, we all can make a difference. It’s about expectations and training ensuring we all understand our roles and have the skills to deliver and remember to always recognise individual and team wins. A fun fact about me is: On a footy note, I was carried as a baby into the MCG for Melbourne’s last flag (not showing my age but that was 1964). 6
