National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week

Helping make bigger things happen in the community

National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week

National Reconciliation Week( NRW) runs annually from 27 May – 3 June. This year these dates marked two significant anniversaries in Australia’ s reconciliation journey – 50 years since the 1967 referendum, and 25 years since the historic Mabo decision.
This year for the first time, our North Rocks office held an event, at which AFL SportsReady shared with the team the importance of National Reconciliation Week and information on Indigenous Australia.
In the Support Office, Raelene Harrison( General Manager- HR) spoke about our journey within this space and highlighted the progress we are making particularly with Indigenous employment and Cultural Awareness training of our team.
National Reconciliation Week focuses on reconciliation, whereas NAIDOC Week is a celebration of the culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
In May, Officeworks celebrated NAIDOC Week for the first time. Store teams were encouraged to acknowledge these events by organising Indigenous themed activities such as crafts, morning teas, Indigenous dance performances or a Welcome to Country.
