Table 19 Summary Enrolment in Public Early Childhood Education Institutions

Universal access to primary and secondary education has been achieved in all OECS Member States. Although access to early childhood education is yet to be universal in most Member States, enrolment has been on an upward trend which increases significantly with age both in the privately and publicly operated facilities.

Overall, enrolment at the early childhood level across OECS countries has increased from 17,192 in 2013-14 to 21,421 in 2014-15. It must be noted, that enrolment is particularly low within the birth to two years age cohort in all countries. While the enrolment increases significantly in the 3 to 4+ years cohort, the rise is even greater amongst the private institutions across OECS countries.
